How to backup and transfer ManyCam effects

Important! Before you proceed:

Choose the option that best suits your situation.

Windows ⇒ Windows

Use this guide when:

  • You need to transfer your effects and effect categories from one Windows machine to another,
  • You need to reinstall Windows and keep your effects.

Backup the files

1) Close ManyCam by pressing Ctrl+Q (make sure ManyCam is not showing on the Task Manager),
2) Press Win+R, type in %appdata% and hit Enter,
3) Navigate to the ManyCam folder,
4) Copy the files listed below to any convenient location on your computer or portable storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder
  • state_storage file

Transfer the backup files

1) On a new machine, close ManyCam by pressing Ctrl+Q (make sure ManyCam is not showing on the Task Manager),
2) Press Win+R, type in %appdata% and hit Enter,
3) Navigate to the ManyCam folder and place the backup files in this location. If you see a prompt whether files should be replaced, click Copy and Replace for all conflicts.

Mac ⇒ Mac

Use this guide when you need to transfer your effects and effect categories from one Mac to another.

Backup the files

1. Close ManyCam by pressing CMD+Q and navigate to the ManyCam folder:

 /Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Visicom Media/ManyCam/

2. Copy the files listed below to any location on your computer. You can also copy them to portable storage (flash storage, USB storage, external hard drive, etc) or upload them to cloud storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder
  • state_storage file

Transfer the backup files

Transfer your backup files to the following location on a new Mac:

/Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Visicom Media/ManyCam/

Windows ⇒ Mac

Use this guide when you need to transfer your effects and effect categories from a Windows machine to a Mac.
