How to backup / transfer / restore ManyCam effects and categories

Please choose the option that best suits your situation

Windows ⇒ Windows (on the same PC)

This guide applies to clean installation of ManyCam (remove, then install).
You will be able to backup your effects and effect categories.
For this guide to work, Windows usernames must match.

1. Navigate to a ManyCam folder:

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\ManyCam\

2. Copy the files listed below to any convenient location on your computer (like your Desktop). You can also copy them to a portable storage (flash storage, USB storage, external hard drive, etc) or upload it to a cloud storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder
  • State_storage file

3. Uninstall ManyCam

4. Install ManyCam and press CTRL+Q to close it after the installation is complete.

5. Place your backup files back in the same location (click Copy and Replace for all conflicts):

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\ManyCam\

6. Launch ManyCam.


Windows ⇒ Windows (from one PC to a new one)

This guide applies to clean installation of ManyCam on a new Windows machine.
You will be able to backup your effects only, categories will not be saved.

1. Navigate to ManyCam folder:

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\ManyCam\

2. Copy the folder listed below to a portable storage (flash storage, USB storage, external hard drive, etc) or upload them to a cloud storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder

3. Install ManyCam and place your backup files backup files in the same location (click Copy and Replace for all conflicts)::

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\ManyCam\

4. Launch ManyCam.


Mac ⇒ Mac (on the same Mac)

This guide applies to clean installation of ManyCam (remove, then install).
You will be able to backup your effects and effect categories.
For this to work, macOS usernames must match.

1. Navigate to ManyCam folder:

 /Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Visicom Media/ManyCam/

2. Copy the files listed below to any location on your computer. You can also copy them to a portable storage (flash storage, USB storage, external hard drive, etc) or upload them to a cloud storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder
  • State_storage file

3. Uninstall ManyCam

4. Install ManyCam on a new machine and press CMD+Q to close it after the installation is complete.

5. Launch ManyCam.

This guide applies to clean installation of ManyCam on a new Mac.
You will be able to backup your effects only, categories will not be saved.

1. Navigate to ManyCam folder:

 /Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Visicom Media/ManyCam/

2. Copy the files listed below to a portable storage (flash storage, USB storage, external hard drive, etc) or upload it to a cloud storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder

3. Install ManyCam on a new machine and place your backup files in the same location:

/Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Visicom Media/ManyCam/

4. Launch ManyCam.

Note

Since categories will not be saved, please look for your effects in default effect categories (such as Objects).


Windows ⇒ Mac

This guide applies to clean installation of ManyCam on a new Mac machine when you previously had ManyCam installed on Windows.
You will be able to backup your effects only, categories will not be saved.

1. Navigate to ManyCam folder:

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\ManyCam\

2. Copy the folder listed below to a portable storage (flash storage, USB storage, external hard drive, etc) or upload it to a cloud storage.

What to backup:

  • Effects folder

3. Install ManyCam on your Mac and place your backup files back in the following location:

 /Users/USER_NAME/Library/Application Support/Visicom Media/ManyCam/

4. Launch ManyCam.

Note

Since categories will not be saved, please look for your effects in default effect categories (such as Objects).


Mac ⇒ Windows

This guide applies to clean installation of ManyCam on a new Windows machine when you previously had it on a Mac.
You will be able to backup your effects only, categories will not be saved.
